Medicine suggestion for faster recovery
What do hunters use before and after hunting an older dog(mine is 8.5) to recover quicker from a tiresome hunt. A guy at a camp last weekend told me about a prescription beginning with letter E that he gave his dog 40 minutes before a hunt and again afterwards. He said it really helped cut down the ...

Guide suggestions for NW MS or Delta
I'm looking to take a couple friends hunting in areas holding birds. I've had some great hunts in the past in Crowder area. Does anyone know of reputable guides in the $150-$175 range? I don't care to spend much more than that. Thanks.s

Re: MOST GEESE EVER
Did you see any Canada geese amongst them? I'm thinking they'll be headed this way after the big blast up north.

Re: when to retire a lab?
these are great replies and I appreciate all of your responses. Some very good wisdom. I would like some suggestions about Glucosamine supplements.....how much and what sources. We hunt about 2-3 days a week at the most now. Also, how good are the "recovery" supplements after a hunt? Do th...

when to retire a lab?
Just curious if there's a rule of thumb on when you can expect an active, trained hunting retriever to retire? My dog is 8.5 years and in great shape but he tires more easily and has slowed a little. His drive is still amazing and so are his learned skills. I probably need to get another pup this sp...

Re: duck band question
Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and called in the bands......the person on phone said she couldn't tell me where the ducks were banded b/c the #'s have to be tracked. Anyway, the certificate and check are "on the way". Now I have to decide which mount position would look the best.... ...

Re: duck band question
It was really strange seeing two b/c the dog had the bird in his mouth and we stared at the one band not even looking at the other leg which was tucked back. Couldn't believe it when discovered the second band...a big green band to go with the silver. Could be an older bird I figure.

duck band question
I was fortunate or lucky to kill a double banded greenhead this AM. One band is green with $50 reward and other is from Laurel MD. Is this pretty rare or not unusual? I've killed 4 previous single bands but never a double. Thanks.

Re: So, you want a steady retriever at hunt tests huh?
Phenomenal post! I lived thru and experienced everyone one of those heartaches and was too eager to go back to "boot camp" and zero tolerance. In the end, it cost me from completing a MH on a great little dog. Not to mention tons of wasted money on entry fees, trip costs and even trainers....
