Sawtooths rarely perform in the wild like they do in peoples yards. I've seen 5 year old trees in a yard loaded while I've seen 10 year old trees just planted and forgotten produce very little. They will grow on most sites but will produce more acorns on the better sites. They don't take competetion...

Let me add that I have never thought all timber buyers were out to beat somebody - I've got some good friends who are buyers. But you've got to admit that you (or any buyer) are are not going to pay any more than you have to to buy it. Right?

First, I don't have a technician- I do all the work myself (glad you pointed out it was grunt work especially in August in MS). I personally don't know of any consultants who hire $8/hr technicians however I'm sure that a few do. Just like any profession there are good consultants and bad consultant...
