Re: Band reports
Two of the Banded Black Brant we killed on the Baja were banded about 100 miles apart (red pin) and made the 3200 mile journey to San Quintin Bay, Mexico (purple pin) several times before they came into gun range. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/thewaterfowler/420256_10151520751126477_7615675...

I beleive I see the stamp with "King Buck" on it. Nice collection. FYI, Maynard Reece that painted the 1959 King Buck Federal stamp, which is the one and only Federal Stamp with a dog featured, is coming out of retirement ot do next years Arkansas Duck Stamp. He is 92 and the painting is ...

Baja Black Brant Blast
For those of you that have never shot Brant, either on the East or West coast you have missed a great waterfowling tradition dating back to the days of market hunters. They rush the decoys like Teal on steroids and offer some great and unique gunning opportunities. One of the largest eel grass beds,...

Re: Anyone counted up for the year yet?
The boy's numbers are about right, but it was a good season in a lot of respects. I got to hunt with my sons a lot more than usual but suspect their mom told them to watch me more closely. Means a lot to me to have them share a day with the ducks. Did spend some quality time alone in a pit with an o...

Re: A limit question?
I'd go to court over it as it's not a 100% Mallard and should fall into the mix of other species in the aggreate 6 bird bag limit. I would certainly hope a Game Warden would see the gray area here as would a judge. The law reads no more than 4 Mallards and not more than two hens. A hybrid is obvious...

Leucistic is the most common vernacular for this mutation, although xanthic(yellow) could also apply. I killed it's twin several years ago near Lambert.

Seaducks
Hunting Seaducks is always an adventure. Drake eiders can weigh 6-7 pounds and easily take a load and still keep going. White-winged Scoters are another tough bird and larger than a Mallard. Here's just a couple I recently finished for clients. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/thewaterfowler/I...

Re: Monday Night Football...
Wow, I'm sitting here agreeing with a Yankee!! Figured the replay booth would see what millions of Americans did, but I guess not. I know one ref wanted to change the call to ball at half-court because the runner missed second base and it's now first and ten Memphis Grizzlies on the Chicago B...

Huge bunches in NE Arkansas now. Saw plenty this morning along with Pintails and Shovelers. Another quick hunt today.
