Good point. Set ups I have seen use steel with a plate on the foot that bolt to slab. No steel in the ground. They do need a weep hole to allow moisture out and to keep them from being a float in times of high water.

For that high I would say cross braced steel.

I personally dont like the look the I beams give underneath so would go with 10 to 12 in pipe or square tubing.
