Re: Boykin Gun Dog Trainer
I have seen REALLY nice boykins trained/run by Adam Campbell - Tuscaloosa AL, and Stephen Durrence - Southeast GA. I think any of our local trainers would do a fine job for you, as well. As with all things, it depends on your goals.

Re: Boykin Gun Dog Trainer
There are so many very good trainers in this area, its hard to know where to start. Most any of the ones regularly mentioned here would do you a good job. Give me half a day to look at my books to see who has run nice Boykins under me or Sonya. Butch Herb would probably be the Main Dude to ask about...

Re: Question for those who remain
FB happened. The "youngsters" head to FB groups now rather than the "old school" (that ain't THAT old) forums. I think what you are seeing is the lack of "new blood." And the 1000 bots per day that want to register here does not make it easier to get new folks on. YMMV.

Re: Chesapeake training
Any time after they have they permanent teeth. You will save yourself some money if the dog has (real world) solid OB (sit/here/heel) before they go to the trainer. I have seen dogs start at age 6, so you have plenty of time. If you are willing to go as far south as Meridian, Chip "Skippy J&quo...

Re: Chesapeake training
Alan Sandifer in Lumberton has worked with many chessies, up through the Q level. Steve Vires would do a very good job for you, and he has great training water. Ronnie Lee in (sort of) Louisville, MS at Duck Roost Kennels would also be an excellent choice.

Re: Dog Foot Injury
Hydrogen peroxide, then Veticyn (sp?) or similar product. I have found with mine (probably from where we hunt) that with a puncture injury, they almost always abcess and require a trip to the vet for lancing, etc.

Re: RNT calls ID
Because John does not want to incur the total WRATH of the call collecting community that has supported RNT for decades by gutting the value of their OSDC collections. He is still selling a ton of calls.

Re: RNT calls ID
Here are some pictures. The "saw cut" (really "milled") ridges are easy to see/feel in person, harder to photo with an iPhone. These are all from Daisy Cutters. Pre-Scroll: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee311/EllieMaeDogg/B3349547-EDE1-4A25-9620-5B83CECF294E_zpsz6tt2384.jpg ...

Re: RNT calls ID
Those terms are tossed around a lot on the call trader pages. They are usually used pretty loosely. All RNT calls are "milled" now on a CNC machine, and have been for many years, unless you have one jigged out by Butch. The old Daisy Cutters, some (non jigged) MVP's, and others were cut on...

I would see what Tom Hamilton at Bracken Fen in Saucier, MS has coming up. I would not "buy British" just to "buy British." Check the pedigrees and title thoroughly no matter from where you buy.

Re: Out of state hunters
That's why I own property there. So, I can pay my part of the taxes, not be an "out of county coastie" and have my stuff stolen by the noble locals.
