Re: Buckwheat

We planted first week of June which was probably a little late. It was in a mix with Sudan which absolutely dominated everything else. Think it was around 40% of overall planting mix, around 25% Sudan would have let more sunlight through which I think would have helped the buckwheat and peas below.

Re: Sears hydroturf alternative

I ordered some of the KEM 400 paint, should be here in a few days. But how in the world of all things holy do you get that epoxy/glue off the deck and floor that was put on with the carpet. This is not contact cement. It is brown and hard as a rock, it was under the carpet. I been wire wheeling it ...

Its private or leased at a minimum now. I've never heard the full story, only bits and pieces.

Re: Thoughts on High Fence Hunting

A fundamental reason I'm not in favor of high fences is they violate the public trust doctrine. The fence makes a public resource private. I'll be the devils advocate, for discussions sake. What if the we the people don't trust the public agencies to manage the resource? Scott, you will know this i...

Re: Thoughts on High Fence Hunting

For others, they want to practice QDM but can't because of outlaws/neighbors Interesting take. All me to retort with all the respect in the world. No neighbor can stop ME from practicing QDM on my land. A trespasser can, but a high fence isn't required to stop them. I think what you mean is that th...

Re: Thoughts on High Fence Hunting

Different folks have different intentions when it comes to putting up a high fence from what I have observed. For some, it really is about "deer farming". For others, they want to practice QDM but can't because of outlaws/neighbors, and they have the means to build an enclosure so that the...

Re: WRP question

DanP, can you simplify that answer? As I read it your saying yes but it's a lot of paper work. Am I interpreting that wrong? I was mostly being sarcastic, ok pretty much 100% sarcastic lol Short answer is that I've never seen or heard of acreage being pulled from a perpetual WRP easement. I would s...

Re: Time to Rate the 2016-2017 season

Im sure those statistics are spot on but it does me no good when 25 Million are north of the mason dixon line and 25 Million are on the coast.................... I hunt in the middle. Exactly my point. Maybe one day folks will start thinking about the problems, or opportunity, we have here ...

Re: Prayers

Humbling reminder we aren't promised tomorrow and that some things in life just don't make sense. Only met Ronnie once but as nice a guy you could run in to. Prayers for wife and son, I can't even imagine... but I will say being married to a spouse who lost her mother at a young age in a car wreck, ...

Re: WRP Question

Short answer is I have never seen an approved plan but we were working through this process with NRCS on a 1,000 acre WRP tract and the state forester retired. We collected all the data last year, so as soon as a new forester steps in I hope we can resume the process. There is no master plan that I'...
