Who hunted the Opener?
Much to my surprise, I had 4 different birds gobbling this morning. 29 degrees  I flicked the safety off on one of the lesser birds at about 70yds. He was probably sent in as a scout for The Boss. Even with the cold, it was a fun morning in the Turkey woods. Best of luck to you and yours!!

I just picked up a copy from a sporting books dealer in Connecticut. It was in top notch condition and only $45. I am currently reading the Tenth Legion and can't wait to move on to the Old Pro Turkey Hunter. Less than 30days to the opener! Can't wait!

Re: Bald Eagles
I will never forget my first encounter with an Eagle and waterfowl. We had just finished up an unsuccessful attempt to hunt a frozen over lake that was holding ducks and geese. While standing on the bank some 3-400 yards away from the unfrozen area that was holding the large group of waterfowl, we n...

Throw an old tire in the bottom of the boat. Let the motor ride on the tire and strap down accordingly. Works like a charm for my go devil.

Re: scope suggestions for a 223
If you are thinking scoped AR, I would go with the Nikon M223 w/ BDC reticle. They make a cheaper P223, but cheaper is rarely ever better when talking optics. Be sure to get the M223 mount with it. It is worth the coin. Vortex is making some great optics now, as is Sig Sauer. I just put a Sig Romeo ...

Ole Slump Buster
Well, I finally laid one down yesterday afternoon. Wheww...I was beginning to think it was just not in the cards this season. I know several hunters, serious hunters, that are experiencing the same thing. I had some time yesterday afternoon and got to a spot where they like to travel through and han...

Silence is Deafening
Man, this has been a rough season so far. There was some promise starting out with gobbling birds and a few close calls. Now, the last few mornings have been dead silent in my part of the state. Others are reporting the same. Some of the old timers say that that they think the turkeys bred early thi...

Re: Gun Safe
I just bought a Liberty Fatboy 64 gun safe. I did a lot of research and found that Liberty, while a little more expensive, is made in the USA and they have the best reviews. Their locks are all UL rated and have the best fire ratings. I got a price quote from another dealer and got Gander Mtn. to pr...

Re: How Do You Start?
Great question. The previous comments pretty much cover the basics. We all learn something new every time we enter those spring woods. The more you go this first year the better. Enjoyable read for even somewhat of an experienced (if there is such a thing) turkey hunter.

Re: These Coolers look interesting.
I am one of the holdouts on the $$$ cooler craze, but I decided to buy one of these. Looks like I will be enjoyed a cold beer out of mine after Turkey Season, as the ship date is 4/29/2016. Oh well, can't beat the price, but the backordered wait time sucks. :? Did they charge your card yet?...
