Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

In case you missed it, the following is a direct quote from the Madduck article titled "Midnight in Ms." While this article was about the demise of duck hunting in the South Delta, it is applicable to what is going on in the entire Delta. "By 2008, Mississippi’s version of the “Ca...

Re: Your thoughts on shot size?

Steel 3's pattern best in my gun at most reasonable distances. I will use steel 2's in a pinch, but have never tried any steel shot smaller than 3's. Growing up in the good old lead days, I almost always shot 4's, unless I was hunting in S.W. Ms. on a wood duck shoot when we shot mostly lead 6's and...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

I will do that. It is obviously too late to stop the current mess, but I would like to know the history or reasoning behind it. Hopefully, I can get a straight answer from those who lobbied for it. I personally believe the chances of getting a straight answer or any answer from members of the board ...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

I don't mind answering your question.

I don't personally farm the land that I own. My grandfather farmed it, and when I was in high school working for him, I helped farm it. Now, I lease it to a local farmer who has been farming it for years.

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

"They are all elected by the people of the area that they serve. That in itself is good enough for me!" Are you kidding me? Hitler was elected by the majority of the people that he served. That wasn't good enough for the minority in his country, nor was it good enough for the world when hi...

Re: Status of Yazoo Pumping Project

Do you really think Benny would ever even claim to be from Jackson, Ms? Besides, my posts are way too short for Benny.

I am not Benny, but have had some lengthy posting battles with him on this forum in past years.

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

C-bank, What are you talking about? From the start, my posts came down on the COE for what they are doing on the Tallahatchie. After Dan, BR549, and others pointed out that it wasn't just the COE, it was the Levee Boards and others that lobby for the money and the approval for the COE to do these ty...

Re: Status of Yazoo Pumping Project

Dan, Thanks for a very informative reply and the link to the propoganda site. The first answer in the question and answer section notes that the pumps will help protect 1,300 homes in the 100 year flood plain from flooding. First, since they are in the 100 year flood plain, they shouldn't flood that...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

So we have concluded a few things: Number of ducks killed by the 1973 floods in Ms. = 0 Number of ducks killed by any flood in the history of the State of Ms. = 0 Things BR549 knows about the Tallahatchie Dredging project = 0 How much BR549 cares about damage done by the Levee Board or the COE to Ms...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

I was around in 1973, and I am assuming you are talking about the big flood we had on the Ms. River that year. My grandfather and I loaded the boat with catfish in the Spring of that year. In fact, that flood that Spring provided some of the best trotline fishing I have ever done. That entire Spring...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

Once again, can you actually explain anything or are you mentally limited to name calling? Why do you contend that "TRUE" sportsmen should be behind the Yazoo pumping project? How will that project benefit the "TRUE" sportsmen? And can those benefits (whatever they are) possibly ...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

Kudzu (a/k/a BR549), If you are not ashamed of your position on your board and you are half as smart as you claim to be, why not disclose to me and everyone else the name of the board that you are on and what area your board controls or governs? Also, why not simply tell me the name of the similar b...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!

Well I do own land on the Tallahatchie river and I am absolutley opposed to the dredging. I know of other land owners along the river who are opposed, as well. BR, if you are so proud to be on the board why not answer my questions. Perhaps you are ashamed to be on the board or perhaps the best way t...
