Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
So BR549 is on one of them drain the Delta boards? Now I understand why he doesn't "give a rat's booty" about this post. What board are you on and did you vote for or lobby Congress to Mandate the COE to dredge the Tallie? How did you get on the board and how do you contact its members? Mo...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
Now we are getting somewhere. Dan and I agree that the Ross Barnett area was much prettier before the lake was built, and we agree that the Delta has been forever changed by the levees and channels (who I think the COE primarily built and dug). I think we also agree that there is no good or legitima...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
A direct quote from the 2009 Budget submitted by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: "This Budget represents the prudent use of available funding to advance important, mission-based objectives. I am proud to present it." John Paul Woodley, Jr. Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) Maybe ...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
DanP, Please enlighten us all with your wisdom, knowledge and experience. What bill authorized the spending for the current dredging of the Tallahatchie river, what Congressman or Senator sponsored the bill and who told that Congressman or Senator that the work NEEDED to be done or MANDATED? I have ...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
Do you really think Benny Thompson sits around Washington thinking about the Delta rivers that need dredging to ensure navigation and flood control; then, out of the goodness of his heart and out of concern for the commerce on the Tallatchie river decides to write a bill MANDATING that COE go dredge...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
I ain't anti-millitary and every night me and my kids pray for and thank the lord for the brave guys we have fighting for us over seas. I fully support the Americans that are over there, including the ones who work for the COE. However, dredging the damn Tallahatchie river ain't got nothing to do wi...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
I am not joking. The COE is on a mission to drain the tax payers of money to pay the salaries of the COE. To do so, they will come up with whatever project they can dream up and do not give a damn about the damage done to the environment. Historically, the COE was set up to assist the armed forces, ...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
I really cannot believe anyone who doesn't work for or have family working for the COE and who likes to duck hunt in Ms. would actually defend the COE. No wonder they can't be stopped. Those same people probably plan on voting for Hillary or Osama Obama.

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
Wingman, My grandfather lived and farmed in the Delta his entire life, and I worked on his farm growing up as a kid. I now own some of the land that I inherited from my grandfather, and I am in the Delta often enough these days to know that there is very little "community" left. I did live...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
Wingman, When did you start working for the COE and when is the last time you drove thru the North Ms. Delta? In your list of things we have "gained" by flood control, you included "community". For starters, where is that community of which you speak? Is it at the gambling boats ...

Re: Dredging of the Tallahatchie River!
It is truly one of those ridiculous corp. projects dreamed up by the corp. in order to justify its continued existance. Just think about it. If we were to convince those in power that rivers in Ms. and other states don't need to be turned into giant ag ditches that run as quick and fast as they poss...

I have a 500 and just finished my 3rd or 4th (I honestly can't remember) season, and have loved it. I had a Grizzly before my Ranger, and for duck hunting my Ranger will go anywhere I ever went on my Grizzly. It is wider, taller and longer than my Grizzly, so there are some places in the woods where...

New Hunting Show
I have an idea about a new hunting type show. I would like to see a "Extreme Hunting Camp Makeover" show where people travel around the country helping out poor hunters like myself who have a dump for a camp and turn it into a show place like Six Shooter or something. I would even voluntee...
