Re: Clarion Ledger
I saw two flocks of Canada geese yesterday just west of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Only about 2 inches of snow there and the rivers were open. Very mild winter so far in the north country.

Re: Imprinting with the slow season.
We took a trip down to the Detroit area today, about 200 miles. About a foot of snow here at home but only about 2 inches from Saginaw to Detroit. All the small lakes and rivers were frozen. I saw 2 small bunches of giant Canadas just north of Detroit. Some of those birds manage to stay all winter ...

Re: Birds.....they comin' or what?
Bullsprig, that's the best post I've read on this site in a long time! I haven't hunted ducks in Mississippi in many years, but I still like to hear where the birds are.

Re: satallite at deer camp
The DirecTV guy told me the same thing. Put up a dish at camp and take one of your receivers from home. The receivers don't care where they are as long as the satellite is pointed in the right direction.

Have been wearing them for a few years. They just take a few weeks for you to adjust to them. After a while you will tilt your head back to read something and not even think about it. The first couple days are the worst.

Re: Anyone ever heard of the "Bays Call"?
I had several of these call which were given to me by Mr. Lewis Bays back in the late '70's when we hunted together at Malmaison. They are a very simple call, and they do sound like a woodduck.

That's a drake ringneck in the picture, not a bluebill.

Re: Boat ramp
I started hunting Malmaison in the 1970's and we could get to the ramp about 9 AM and be the only vehicle there. Once saw a pickup sit at the ramp all day with the door open and a Browning A-5 hanging in the gun rack.

Re: Hambone Calls
I saw a Hambone call listed on ebay yesterday and the current bid was $152. It was in good shape but did not have the metal band. Don't know what kind of wood it was. I think the listing expired last night as I couldn't find it this morning.

Re: Hambone Calls
I have a green bois-de-arc Hambone with a brass ring and a decal. According to the letter in the box with the call, Mr. Amaden sent it to me on 8/23/81. Hope this helps to narrow it down a little.

Re: GLOBAL WARMING CORRAL
Po Monkey. No offense taken. We don't need those mallets up here after the season closes anyway. Now if we could just get DU to stop spreading all that corn around!
