Re: Armistice Day Strom - 11-11-40

Thanks for the post. Every year I think about this terrible day. Here is a good article I found a couple years ago. There is even an interview with one of the survivors.

Re: Who hunts out of pirogues?

Check out Water Moccasin Pirogues. They're built in north Louisiana a few miles south of Shreveport. I've had one for years. It is the sturdiest pirogue I've ever used. I have yet to turn it over unlike some other models. It's a little heavier than a hull only version but it's worth the extra weight ...

Re: Decoy Paints

I bought decoy paint from Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop, I can't remember which. The brand was Parker. It worked out very well. I think it was about $20 for enough paint for 2 dozen dekes.

Re: Delta National??

I've hunted there several times over the last few years. Had only one good hunt in the timber. Otherwise it's been very disappointing. Only two or three of the greentrees are flooded each year. Re: The best duck call...

If I could only use one call it would be the Duck Commander Classic. No frills, just a good duck sounding machine.

Re: what odd species of ducks...

Killed a White Winged Scoter Hen on Black Lake near Natchitoches Louisiana when I was in college in the early 80's. Still have a picture of it. It came to the dekes solo. Took 8 shots of #4 lead (legal at that time) to kill it. Feathers were very thick. Should have mounted it.

I'm very allergic to the stuff myself. In fact I came home Saturday from a 3 day camping/hunting trip in the delta with a jam up case of it on my face, and neck. Went straight to the MEA and got a pack of steorid pills, Methylpredisone and some high octane cream, Triamcinlon. A good friend of mine ...
