I heard 20-25 gobbles between two birds last Saturday. Since then I've only heard one gobble.

In NE MS if you have birds, they are vocal on the limb but go silent once on the ground. Several veteran hunters have said they have resorted to hunting the pm once they find birds and they leave the hens . Some areas that have been hot for the last 10 years are now silent.

I didn't expect to hear a thing and heard three. Closed the deal with the closest one. It was 25 degrees, but I forgot all about that when he sounded off. Thankful the season is upon us finally.

I didn't hunt as many days as I usually do, but we faired well most of the season. My dad decided to come out of retirement and now has the itch again. Overall, it was a fun season and I'm thankful for the time I was able to spend with family and friends.

My old 870 supermag 26" with a jellyhead really liked nitro 3.5" 4x5x7 and magnum blends 4x5x7. This year I'll be using a 20 gauge 870 youth model with shureshot stocks. I plan to shoot TSS loads through it.
