legal shooting hours????

I generally quit 5 minutes before sunset just to give myself a safe cushion. Any duck that made it through the whole day deserves an extra 5 minutes of rest.

Rifle Scope Questions...

Hey Chance, I think you better pull out your conversion tables and check that human lens diameter again. 2" is a pretty big eyeball.

What happened to those Dawgs, lastnight??

As a graduate of MSU and hard-core fair-weather fan, I can't say I was too surprised by the loss to a good S.C. team. They do this every time I develop the least amount of optimism about the outcome of the season, which I know better than to do.

I'm too lazy to go back and read through all of this and the other related threads, but I picked up in there somewhere that the freezer check didn't apply to your residence, but could be enforced at your camp. Seem's like the warden even told Mallardchaser that if "he were at home, it'd be different...

waitin on teal reports...

I hunted the Bluff Creek Marsh Sunday morning and saw one flock of five teal, no shots. Could have limited on wood ducks, though. At least I say we could have, because I've never missed a duck I didn't shoot at.

If I read GH22's very last post on that thread correctly, then I believe he realizes his past transgressions and will fly the straight and narrow from now on. At least I hope so.

Speakin' of dogs, GC, will you be taking yours out in the marsh during teal season? I've been planning on taking mine, but I also keep talking myself out of it because of the gators. I've never seen any up in the little marsh pond I plan to hunt, but I still can't help but worry about it.

Tell Me a Question

I'm looking at the 2001 Outdoor Digest now, and everything landscraper told you is correct. The only correction I'd make is that I don't think any of the state WMA's or public lands (National Forests) require a $ permit, just the federal NWR's. The Yazoo NWR Complex has a $12 permit that you need to...

Sorry GH22, but no amount of rationalization is going to make you right or legal on this issue. It is cut and dry that a daily limit is a daily limit only. The only reason the possession limit is not in affect on opening day is because there is no legal way to get to possession limit in one day with...

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong on that one GH22. If you're sitting in the field Sunday afternoon with 15+ birds, the first 15 better be cold enough to have been killed Saturday. A daily limit is just that. The answer to your question is "yes", you're supposed to skip the afternoon hunt if you kille...

It's O.K. Dixie, dry your eyes and try to care next time. GH22, I have no idea what you're talking about. The limit is 15 birds/day for every day of the season. Unless you're trying to say that your limit is actually less later, because you would be exceeding the 30 bird possession limit. For instan...

Sorry to see you don't consider shooting over the legal limit one of your #1 no-no's.

Dove Season.... how's it going so far?

Killed four on Saturday afternoon before being run out the field by a wall of water. When the rain first hit my little Brittany, it hit so hard and fast he tucked his tail and scooted away like I'd swatted him with a broom. Stopped at 15 on Monday afternoon at around 5:00 pm. It sure was fun getting...

I'm with Swamp Rat. If someone beats you to your spot (out-of-state plates or not) then you should have got up earlier. There's NOTHING more aggravating than someone piling in on top of you right at daylight.
