Re: The Eagle Has Landed

Thanks for the tips, but I don't have PS. That photo was one of the best of several dozen and I really wasn't satisfied with it. Zoom lens, no tripod and moving target. Very difficult to get it sharp and the white head was really blowing out the photo in the sun.

Nice. Only suggestion is that you could do a little "Digital Fill" in PS and make that harsh head shadow look better.

Re: Lens Rentals

Oh yeah, also, do yourself a favor and don't rent or borrow a 300 or 400 2.8

You'll drive yourself crazy figuring out how to buy one :D

Re: Lens Rentals

Never rented from them, but I know the owner Roger is a top notch guy. He used to be a member of a photo club there in Memphis and I met him through the internet. He's a regular on fredmiranda.com as well, and I've never heard anything but good stuff from people who rented from them. They're located ...

Re: Need help on lense

Best two general purpose lenses: 24-70 2.8 L and 70-200 2.8 L

Best two on a budget (but still not cheap):

Bottom line, spend all you possibly can on glass. It really makes a difference in image quality.

Re: Another lesson learned...

In the picture with him holding the turkey what did you do to make the corners kind of faded black that way??

That's called vingnetting. A technique used in photoshop to burn the edges of a photo to draw more emphasis to the focal point of the picture. I used an automated action for that one, but ...

I was looking back at that second blown shot, and can't figure out what that turd looking thing in focus is? Is that a turkey turd?

Re: While on the lake

I like the first one. The second one looks a little out of focus, or maybe just heavily cropped. The second one also lacks the contrast need to make it a great photo. The green turtle head, no puns here guys, is poking out into green water. The green on green is uninteresting to my eye. In the first ...
