Re: new pup health?

Symptoms: "At birth, affected puppies are indistinguishable from their control littermates but as from two weeks of age, a progressive significant weight loss is observed. At one month of age, the absence of tendon reflexes is noticed and used as an early and reliable diagnosis. The age of onse...

Re: new pup health?

Does the pup's back seem somewhat arched? Sounds like it could be CNM.

Re: Osteochondritis Dessicans (OCD) Diagnosis

I know that it is genetic and sometimes skips generations making it very difficult to remove from your lines once it is there. I once spoke to a stud dog owner on the phone for over an hour about his dog. The dog was beautiful and quite talented. I explained what I was looking for with the breeding ...

Have they done a trachea wash? That will tell you for sure. Time is of the essence on this.
Prayers from someone who lost a dog to this. :(

Re: hip certifications

I do both OFA and Penn Hip. OFA is more widely known, but Penn Hip is gaining in popularity. I believe Penn Hip to be the better predictor of hip health, but as of yet, they don't have an online database which is important to determine the hip health of the lines the dogs come from.... So, for now, ...

Re: Medicine suggestion for faster recovery

The most common pain relievers for dogs are Rimadyl, Deramaxx, Etogesic and Metacam, with the first 2 probably the most widely used. If you see your vet, he can prescribe a couple of Rimadyl "pain packs" for you to use for infrequent hunts. If you are hunting alot, you probably will need a...

Re: Puppies Upset Stomach Help Please

Could it be giardia causing the problem? Check with your vet about getting some metronidazole.

Re: Help, advice, something.......

The following solution has worked for many people and is a favorite among home remedies: mix 1 qt. of 3% hydrogen peroxide, ¼ to ½ cups baking soda and 1 – 2 tsp. dish soap. The caution I would add is that the Hydrogen peroxide can act as a bleaching agent on the coat. If you are concerned by this s...

Re: a topic of discussion......

If a test dog is is only for showing the mechanics of the test, then why can't ANY dog be used? You are not allowed to use a Finished Dog to show the mechanics of a Started or Seasoned test. We have used set up dogs up here and would agree to their value, but I think if the test dog has serious prob...

Re: a topic of discussion......

I definitely don't have enough experience to answer this question, but if marks test marking and memory and the majority of dogs in a test are handling on the marks, then the dogs have not been tested. Secondly, if the test dog can't even come close to doing the test, it should be adjusted or else g...

Digger, I spoke with him this morning. He hasn't gotten them yet, but he went ahead and gave Izzie a Heartgard.

Noodle did well this morning, but Belli and I haven't got it together yet.

Re: Steve has arrived!

They wouldn't have a problem with the ecollar if it had flowers or some other girly crap on it. Maybe that will be a new ecollar niche market  Belli is a house dog, so the mud ain't gonna work. She is fitting in nicely with the pack. Moose is yummy...if someone gives him some, I'm sure Steve wi...
