Good article on this topic in Dec/Jan Gundog Mag. It's on stands until 30 Jan.

I think they are essential for cold/weather water hunting. Tip...take your dog out swimming with it on before the actual hunt. I've seen dogs wear it for the first time in the water for a retrieve and it took them a ...

Your friend could save some frustration by skipping the puppy stage and look into these girls or something similar...

If he wants a house dog, my advice would be to save some money. There are plenty of labs in rescue or from backyard breeders that should fill his need...just an idea. Of ...

I was stationed at Hickam for the 60th anniversary. In reality, quite a few of the surviving American and Japanese vets get together each year to honor the occasion. Most share they no longer have hatred towards the other -- they've realized they were just doing their jobs.

What a great ...

Beating the dog will not solve anything. At age 4, a simple "no" lets her know she's done wrong. You're compounding the problem by "beating" her. I understand you've recanted and said that you don't abuse her, but if you are acting distressed, the dog will take your cue.

IMO, the best solution ...

Re: When should I start??

My question is, how old before I begin to put him in field trials??

Ya'll give me some feedback on age and field testing, It will be my first dog to try and get titled.

I don't have specific expertise in FT or hunt tests, but I do believe age isn't the indicator for the point you begin these ...

Hey guys. I just moved from ND. In case you were wondering, most labs up there aren't steady to wing and shot because a crippled rooster hitting the ground will be gone! I want my two labs to be on them ASAP for better retrieving. Nothing like a wily rooster on the run. Some of the best dog work I ...

It's a good day when violators get caught. Although these citations sometimes give sportsmen a black eye, it's good to see the law at work.

Good on the COs and any others that helped make this happen.

The previous posts are correct. It doesn't have to come from exposure to cold water. My male lab has gotten it from over work (fatigue) along with his tail waggin too much for too long while getting birdy on upland. You can give a buffered aspirin, but rest is most important.

Good luck...

As far as buying online, search "Frontline Plus for sale" and you'll get plenty of sites to compare. Do the same for K9 Avantix

As far as cheapest price, I always compare price per dose since Frontline is often sold in increments of 3 and K9 Advantix in 4s.

Best of luck!

After many field hunts while stationed in ND, my advice is to use the same vegetation/stubble for your blinds that's in the field your hunting. Killer weed doesn't compare to the real thing.
