I’m baaaack!

Alright! Where the heck are all the old farts like me? Haven’t posted in a minute or two, so thought I’d like to catch up with the The Wild Bunch (let us old men dream, ok). I didn’t hunt one time this last year...sucks! Just hid from the Covid! But, as I was at my lake house a lot, I kayak fished a...

Re: Intro

Just remember, you are trying to mimic what is natural. Most flocks of ducks, especially mallards, will be almost 3 to 1 drakes to hens. Welcome from a MS boy and Mississippi State fan who lives in GA. Just wade through the crap and you will find a kernel of duck genius around here sometime. Hope yo...

Re: ADS: Moving to Athens, GA

You will like the area. Way more opportunity for a young man. I have lived in GA for 40 yrs me. My daughter lives there and works for the university. She wouldn't move for anything.

Re: Indian Bayou

When IB first opened, it was a killer place to hunt...much like the south green tree on Delta National. The first two years, hunting during the week was like having a private place. I just remember showing up one year and it was closed. Never heard why. Figured the state couldn't afford to run it. A...

Re: worst season in 33+years

Well, I've had worse years when my health was bad and I couldn't even go. I've had better years where I couldn't step in a hole of water and not limit out. One thing is certain for the future of the sport, I'm afraid. It won't ever be as consistent, for most of us, as has been in the past. Unless yo...

Re: MISS opener?

Yeah, I never get too excited about the first two weekend hunts. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than mostly disappointed. But, I will be there this weekend, just in case!

Re: Mahannah info

I second The Battlefield Inn. Best for the price and I've stayed there several times. Not five star but was clean. Get a room on the left side (as you face the front door). There is a good place to air your dog just across the parking lot there. Good luck.

Whatever make, get an "assisted open" type. I'll never have any other kind. Amazing how much the one handed operation helps...especially if the thumb knob never seems to work for some of us clumsy folk!
