Re: specks

any body got a rec on speck call and instructional CD? I've tried before but getting the reed to "break over" was not easy --- I understand back pressure is key but it don't come naturally for me. We've got a ton of speck in our area and I "call" at them while we are duck hunting but there is ...

Re: AM I THE ONLY ONE????

Hunted with one buddy maybe 15 times over the course of past couple of years --- during those 15 hunts, he's killed a banded greenhead, banded snow goose (with neck collar) and banded drake pintail ---- the odds of that (15 hunts and 3 bands) have got to be on up there.

Re: the great hunting story thread....

Back before the days of leased duck holes and neoprene waders (at least for me), my Dad and I regularly hunted a flooded soybean field next to the Coldwater River behind The Tonk. Hiding was a bit of a problem as there was only sparse cover along a drainage ditch that cut through the middle of the ...

Re: led headlight

I ordered two, both 300 lumen from different shippers. One has a red and black strap with a metal tube --- its the real deal. The other is all plastic (black) and has a green and black head strap -- its not very bright, especially when compared to the other light.. So, fwiw if you order one, I'd ...

Re: DRAKE WADER PROBLEMS

I just returned my pair to Vans. Leaked where the boot met the neoprene upper after two hunts. Also, I agree they are not very easy to walk in . . . didn't seem to have enough bend in the knees . . . which may have ultimately caused the leak due to being stretched out. I like the pockets and ...

Fifth Circuit Case -- Lake Gassoway -- public water issue

you guys may have already seen this but I just ran across it and thought I would post it here, on Dec. 28 the 5th Circuit in Parm v. Shumate (No. 06-31045) affirmed a federal district court opinion which in essence found:

The district court found that the Property [Lake Galloway] is a bank of the ...

how so???

"That's why some folks don't get drawn, at all.......and don't get to hunt, period! Way to GO! Wink"

Are you suggesting that they should not have put in for drawings at all the WMAs? or just put in for one specific date on each? Its very possible that in ranking the hunting dates you could be ...

Skeeter,

Under my interpretation of Mississippi law, I would argue that you were legal -- other opinions may differ.

For the right price, I'll be glad to try to get as many of you out of it as need be  Seriously, though, what the others above have said is pretty much the rule I would follow -- stay within the banks and you should be fine

Always looking for a new place to go :) I doubt I would do you much good though . . . for some reason, people act funny when they think you are hunting in their duck hole  I may could convince the Judge but not the landowner or the gamewarden
