handgun suggestions
I'm in the market for a pistol. Have never bought one before and was looking for some suggestions. I'm thinking 9 or 40 but am undecided. I'm not looking to spend more than $500.
Any suggestions?

Re: Grilled fish
Never grilled it that way, but I'm sure you could.
Here's what I do:
1/2 cup parmesan
3 tbs mayonnaise
1/4 cup softened butter
1 tsp hot sauce
salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together.
Broil filets (I use grouper and brush them with lemon juice prior) for about 5 minutes on a well ...

Re: The Obama Tax
Repealing it is not as difficult as you may think. Because this bill was passed using reconciliation, it can be repealed using reconciliation. Republicans already have a majority in the house and can pass the measure there. In the senate, they only need 51 votes to repeal it. That said, I doubt ...

Re: Land and Lodges
Well said. I imagine any publication that achieves what you reference here will be successful. All it takes to be successful in ventures like this is giving people compelling content they can't get anywhere else. I've always thought the story behind the hunt was much more interesting than the actual ...

Re: Land and Lodges
Thanks for the response. Also, what type of content would you like to see? Hyper-local? State? Regional? What type of features? How to? Recipes? Homes?
I ask that question because I subscribe to several magazines that, while I'm interested in the general topic, I get very little content that ...

Re: Land and Lodges
The Y'all magazine is much different than Land & Lodges. It's more of a "lifestyle" magazine that caters to the country club set – kind of like a Who's who type deal with lots of names and faces of movers and shakers from the area.
Just curious – is a magazine like this something you guys would ...

Re: Land and Lodges
Print circulation is not unsustainable. That's a myth created by people who are accustomed to the glory days of 40% EBITDA and leveraged themselves accordingly. I know the magazine you're talking about and actually offered some advice to the lady (Cindy, maybe?) prior to the launch. Magazines are a ...

Re: Gulf Shores Area Fishing in june
If you're not dead set on offshore fishing, I'd go with Capt. Wes Rozier. He's a fantastic inshore guide and will put you on reds and specks. I've fished with him several times and he's always been very good. If you're looking for offshore, bottom fishing I'd still give him a call and ask who he ...

Re: $20 fee to get a police report?
Incident and offense reports are public record. They have the right to charge a "reasonable" fee for time, paper, etc... $20 is not reasonable. You should alert your local newspaper and tell them they're not complying with the spirit of the law. Newspapers usually take violations of sunshine laws ...

Re: Fried Turkey Tips
Tuel - 20 minutes per pound? Seriously? That's WAY too long. I've been doing about 10 for friends and family every year for the last 10 years. I've always cooked mine at 325 for 3 minutes per pound plus 5 minutes. I can't imagine how burned they would be if you cooked them for 3 hours.

Re: Anybody ever been in the Air Force?
CBrown - you make some good points. I didn't take in to account benefits like BAH, BAS, insurance and retirement. Those things certainly up your compensation. I was speaking strictly regarding base monthly pay. As I mentioned, there are other sources of income like per diem, hazardous duty pay, etc ...

Re: Anybody ever been in the Air Force?
I was active duty for four years and really liked it. Did two years in Germany and deployed all over Europe and the Middle East. Pros - you probably won't get shot at unless you go the special forces route. The quality of life is pretty good - nice bases, good housing, etc... The pay is not bad for ...
