Took this a few years ago while turkey hunting. Though it was pretty cool.

Edited to add, not sure why it's sideways.

Re: Unwritten rules

I was at my camp turkey hunting many years ago and had an unusual scenario occur. I was set up on the side of an oxbow lake several hundred yards from the property line when I hear some 4 wheelers off in the distance sounding like they are headed my way. I had seen two long beards here several times...

Re: How Do You Start?

I'd like to add since no one's mentioned it. Don't use a flashlight while walking in or setting up. You will walk across many snakes, but what you don't know won't hurt you. Turkey will see the light and flush or avoid flying down in the direction they sense something is up. Suck it up and go in lik...

Re: Gonna start a camp/what you think about these rules

I've decided to present these rules to the board members at UHC to be enacted for camp guests only. Thanks for posting them. Been looking for a copy. We've only got the one camp stand. Re: Any suggestions on how to break lead into smaller pieces

Get your a hatchet, sit it on a big solid peace of wood. Lay the blade on it, and wack it with a big hammer. A couple of licks should cut it in half.

Re: Deer season reopen for flood counties?

Yea we are screwed in Vburg.. oh well they be bigger next yr.. what I don't understand is if it shuts off at flood stage why the wait till 2 ft below flood stage to reopen So the deer have time to return to their home turf. However, those stages need to be lowered by a couple of feet south of town....

Re: Big River headed up..........

I hope they don't let people hog hunt cause I know plenty of folks who would love to have that excuse to kill some deer. They have houses and deer camps in the hills and they can easily have the deer cleaned and put away before anyone sees them with it. Like it is, if there are shots fired they bett...

Re: Big River headed up..........

That's high! Hunted on the river for about 30 years and only seen it that high 2x. Turkeys sitting in the trees will have nothing to eat since there are no buds or green leaves. Not a lot of insects this time of year. Deer will probably stave as well. Going to be rough.

Re: Be Careful you never know. . .

Did you look in the are they were well to make sure they weren't hiding stolen goods or a body? Man, I've seen some stories on the news a couple of times over the years were hunters just happen to be in the right place at the right time to catch some theives and killers. This day in time, there is n...

He knew something like that could get a man killed and ditched it. Now he he tells his buds, "I'm just an ordinary old 6 pt looking for some ladies to breed up with. Never mind me".

Usually around the first of October for us. Don't forget about those darn army worms that eat it up if you plant too early.

Re: 35 whelen ammo by Double Tap

I settled on that exact load. Fired about 40 of them and the grouping was nice. Should be a good hunting load. Recoil seemed mild to me and there was absolutely no pressure signs. I loaded up 50 rounds last night. 200 grain Hornady FTX, over 58 grains of RL 15. holds great groups at 100, but haven't...
