I had the company that put my door up when we built the house 17 years ago put a spring on mine a couple years ago. Get someone that knows what they are doing to do it. Best I recall it cost around $200, but that was for part, labor and everything.

I do all kinds of fishing, but mainly fish for crappie. We jig fish, but do alot of casting too. So, with that being said, I would use Berkley Trilene XL smooth casting in 8 lb test monofilament. I could still bream, bass and catfish with this line too.
