I had a male that would hunt all day, duck, doves, quail, had his on chair in the house. The back seat of the suv belonged to him. Jake was a good dog, easy to keep, soft mouth, an would listen to you, when you talk to him. I say "go for it" I think you will be happy with that combo.

My 935, does the same thing, ported, extra full steel. So far does not seem to brother the ducks.

.308, is the way to go, I have five of them, 2 are still in the box, you can load from 90 grains to 220 grains bullets, that should cover anything with fur on it.
