Re: Browning Citori ???

A friendly word of caution- Clean the barrels after each hunt (assuming it gets shot). Browning barrels are prone to form rust in the chambers. Once started, it’s a problem to maintain. But if you are diligent in keeping them cleaned and lightly oiled, maintenance won’t be a problem. This applies to...

Re: cold front ducks

The cold snaps haven't been long-lived enough (down here) to push a duck out of areas (North of us) where there is still an available food source, refuge and open water . It takes about 5 days of solid ice-up to move a mallard further down the 'migration route'.....and migration routes for a given '...

Re: Hydrilla

If it's turning brown right about now, then it sounds like ornamental water hyacinth. It is good for nothing but choking-out all the other vegetation ducks normally are attracted to. The only practical method to eradicate it is a catastrophic high-water event.......the likes of which, experienced by...

Re: Inexpensive Boat Blind Design

It's a $400/year ransom.

Sorry you can't see the photos....but not $400 sorry.

'Gonna be a lot different this year. 'Gotta teach 2 different dogs ('The Twins') the 39-step set-up sequence. It's like keeping 3 bullfrogs on a plate. Better do my yard/boat drills.

Re: New to Starkville

Only thing worse than an Internet scouter is somebody 'needy' enough that can't keep their mouth shut for wanting a total stranger to think they're 'in-the-know' about a place to go duck hunting. Think about it - is anybody stupid enough to send someone looking for a place to hunt in any direction o...

Re: gimmick or not?

'Another duck-on-a-stick that can't find a place to land. There's another gadget that is a collapsing/telescoping tube (internal water column that runs off a bilge pump) that you put a spinner on and it raises and lowers the spinner to make it look like it's landing. If a duck can detect that 8'-10'...

Re: Question for those who remain

It's pretty simple for me......(Spin-off from Samuel Clemens) life is what happens while you were telling folks that could care less, what you're doing every 10 minutes.

Man, that 1-banger is cookin'...... My Dad would be proud to that it's getting some use. Thanks for the video - I had forgotten you bought that little motor. I like the tiller extension so you can balance the canoe. I've been there - done that! I imagine 'reverse' is a bit of a challenge, though. HA...

Thanks, y'all. The mallard drake was full-plummed. Hatched: 2016 Banded: 8/23/16 near Pinehouse, SK Recovered: 10/25/16 approximately 400km or 270mi SE of the banding location - or 1700 miles NNW of Memphis. If this doesn't give a fella an idea of how delayed the mass migration is - little else will...

Awfully wet and warm up there this year. Birds had not even arrived (and probably won't for another 2 weeks) in mid-latitude SK and we were shooting Green-winged Teal on some of our hunts. Plenty of open water still......and grains crops still in swaths due to the rains during the last month. Farmer...

I agree - lowest of the low.

That's an act of a sore 'looser'........(not that it's a competition...... )

It's more prevalent with the 'score-keeping' crowd these days.

Re: worst season in 33+years

We've been at it for 52 years (started when we were 10 & 12 y-o) - 38 of those have been 'together'. There have been better years measured by numbers, but in the grand scheme - they're all good. I'm just thankful to still be able to go. There will come a time that I can't - but it's not here, ye...
