Re: Life vest?
Ya'll got me to thinking, my life vest is perhaps 20+ years old, maybe 30. Never needed it, tried it out once in the summer years ago, worked okay, not sure how or IF it will still work under real world winter conditions, extra weight in the gut, etc. I followed the link to Cabelas and star...

Re: Life vest?
My son may do some hunting this year as well. I am going to try and make those hunts on land, but, where a boat is needed, I am considering a self inflatable vest. Just so i don't have to worry about him taking it off. I really like the looks of this model, but haven't found any more info on it. An...

Re: Mississippi voting??
I don't see Ms. flipping to a blue state in the foreseeable future. Maybe close in 20 years or so, who knows?

Life vest?
My son will be doing some open water hunting this year and I was wanting to get him a high quality life vest. I would really love to get something he could keep on all the time, if possible. Suggestions please.

Have them fly out and meet you after your prior engagement is over. Bet it would be cool for them to see the Pacific!!

Re: Building a cabin
Sam, We finished one up a couple of years ago. A buddy of mine was the GC. We learned several lessons. It is as much of a barn as it is a cabin. Under roof 3/4 is covered barn/skinning shed/storage and 1/4 is living area. If you ever want to take a look at it let me know. Its between Canton and Flo...

Re: Eric Hunt strikes but again
I am very sorry to hear that this happened to you. Apparently, there are quite a few shady individuals the pimp out duck holes. Your situation may take the cake as the most extravagant hoax I have heard about. The club I belong to had some complaints before we joined, but we took a chance and were n...

Re: Question about the "X"
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I certainly agree with this. The holes that have "history" are very hard to come by and when one does become available it usually is not advertised. For those of us that did not grow up with duck hunting in the family or have good contacts it proves very difficult to get int...

Re: Question about the "X"
Those "walnut size" brains make mine feel pea sized most of the time. I appreciate the input. I guess if you have ducks in your area concealment is top priority and the other things you can work on from there! We had our first decent outing, this season, last weekend. It has been very slow...

Re: Washington trip
Very nice! I would have had a hard time watching for ducks because of all the beautiful scenery. I am taking my son to Oregon on a float/fish/camp trip for his graduation trip in June. I can hardly wait. Hopefully you can get some of your other pics. posted up. I would love to see them.

Re: Question about the "X"
I re-read my post and it is way too wordy. If there are no ducks or decoys on a body of water what makes a duck think there is food there? If they can't see it do they just give it check and move on? There are so many "manmade" flooded ag. fields I was just curious as to your opinions on w...

Question about the "X"
I figured you more experienced guys could shed some light on this for me. As a general rule I have always been of the opinion that ducks will feed in open flooded fields early and then move to timber or larger bodies of water to "rest" later in the day. I know this is dependent on differen...

Stupid stuff in the blind!
Since I don't have any pics of ducks I thought you guys might get a kick out of this. We were sitting in the blind a couple weeks ago, twiddling our thumbs, be cause it was sloooooow. I could tell my buddy was up to something down in the other end of the blind cause he was giggling at his self. I fi...
