I do not see anything negative in this training method. However, in the video it is a controlled training situation. It is in a field not a skeet or sporting clays range and there are only a couple of shooters that are training other dogs. This is also a training situation not a free for all skeet ...

I start my pups with the kennel and load command during crate training with dog biscuits. By the time they are 3 months old they are barreling into the crate. I make them want to go into the box and love every second of it.

I transfer it to the truck. But I back the truck up to a slope in a hill ...

Bill and David it was great seeing you guys again.

I have only ran in one hunt test and then I ran in the Wildrose event Saturday. That was a blast. I know where the weak spots are now. So the number ten dog will be a contender next year.

Some of you guys who have not run in it before should ...

Duckchaser, I am on the same page as you. I like the fact that Lardy with his experience took an approach that there is a merit to what they do and how they do it.

Instead of starting this, go over on RTF and spend a couple of hours reading the discussion that has been going on for a since last week. There are multiple threads going. Honestly some of it is pretty good discussion, some is the same thing that has been argued for years.

I am familar with the cold water tail all of my dogs have gotten it at one time or another. But yesterday my dog had been retrieving some birds and I had him next to me in the water and was going to send him for another bird, when a flock of geese came over the trees, coming right in on us. He ...

Thanks Bill,
Zach is pretty high energy. He loves the drills. But I do not want to burn him out on them. I was just curious about if you alternate. He rarely gets any marks so maybe I will break out my bird launcher and alternate them between sessions.

Thanks
Chip

One maybe a couple more easy questions

When you are running the handling drills to the piles, how many days a week should you run it? Should you mix in a refresher on another already learned skill on alternate days?

You were all right.

I went this morning and again this evening. I ran him to the back pile more. This morning I was thinking about it and realized I had a small, very slight rise in the field I am doing the drill in. Enough of a rise where he could not see the pile. He knows its there but could ...

B3, I think you are right and he just knew nothing was there. He has run this before but there has always been something there. So basically this sounds like it came down to a confidence issue, me being over confident and Zach not being confident enough. Maybe he was too confident he counted the ...

Alright guys I am going to go back to the attrition thing and handling. This is a pretty beginner question but I want to make sure I am doing it right. Here is my set up. For simplicity I will use the baseball diamond for description. At second base I have a ladder of bumpers just 2 about 10 -15 ...
