Re: Lost My Mom - Prayers Please

Prayers sent. My Momma died 5 years ago Thanksgiving. I still pick up the phone and try to call her. It takes time, but it will get better.

Re: Anyone Seeing Any Ducks Yet?

Many species of ducks -- gadwall, teal, shovelers, ect. -- migrate primarily based on photoperiod (length of daylight). The may wait until a North wind to help make it easier, though. Other ducks, mallards primarily, will stay until it is more economical (calorically speaking) to migrate rather tha...

Re: Lordy, it's dry in the delta!

I don't know about the Delta, but Madison County near the Big Black was thirsty. I just got through disking food plots after 5 inches of rain. Ground broke up perfectly. Hit them again tomorrow, fertilizer and seed them on Friday.

Re: my thoughts on Saturday night

It's called job security. Kiffin will be used as the scapegoat, while Saban will keep making his 7 mil or however much it is. You think Saban needs a fall guy at Bama? He could murder a Baptist preacher on live TV in Alabama and they would not fire him. He has the safest job in America. Bwhaaaa!

I'll take care of you Grip. Just come by the Will Call window and they will be waiting on you. Just don't come on Thursdays. We have closed practices then. Spies are everywhere.

Re: Need some help -- Victory Baptist Church in Madison

Up2Early hooked me up. We had our first practice there yesterday. My only concern is parking. Once the college scouts hear about the talent we have on this 6th grade team, they will show up in droves. It will get so bad Madison PD will probably have to be called in for traffic control.  :...

Need some help -- Victory Baptist Church in Madison

Does anyone attend the church or have contact information for someone in charge at the Victory Baptist Church in Madison, MS (corner of Rice and Hoy Rd.) Last year out little boy football team practiced in the green space next to the church. Since I am coaching again, I would like to try to secure t...

Re: Ask DS: anyone use a Cabela's grinder?

I will second what Smoke said. Its the trimming it up (sinew, gristle, bloodshot meat) that takes time. I do not trust any commercial processor with my meat. Too many bad experiences. When you look at a package of my ground venison, it is nothing but lean meat, no fat, no gristle, no sinew. The trim...

Re: Ask DS: anyone use a Cabela's grinder?

I think I have the 400W model. I usually put up 50-60 pounds of ground meat each year (1 pound packs). All venison no fat. I like the vacuum seal bags. I've never had a pack go bad. Its a little extra effort, but my 11 year old son (who usually killed the deer) helps me. If he is going to take a lif...

Re: Ask DS: anyone use a Cabela's grinder?

If its the $99 dollar model, I have one. Love it. I usually grind up pieces and parts of 4 or 5 deer a year. My only complaint is that the meat has to be fairly clean -- little or no sinew and gristle. Run it through once and vacuum seal it up. I don't add fat, but I'm assuming that would not be a p...
