I would like it for ducks, my concern is the 100 degree days that we have in late July and August in SE Oklahoma can be brutal. If planted in June will there be enough of a root system to withstand the heat? This sounds like much better timing and would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

it sounds like you are saying it can be broadcast, is that correct? Do you have an opinion on if it can be mixed with browntop? Also is planting in May, would that cause the plant to mature too early, dropping it seeds and germinating? I really appreciate your help.

Planting Buckwheat

Do any of you know if buckwheat is worth a try and if this is something worth planting in August. I have heard that it only has a 45 day maturity time but don't know if that is correct. Your help would be appreciated.

Your smartweed seed did not float off. Smartweed seed will remain hardy in the ground for 40-50 years. There is alot off different types of smartweed, the 2 best are pale smartweed and the other is pennsylvania smartweed. If your smartweed is growing in existing water odds are it is not the good kind

Everyone should be more in tune with moist soil management. There is no set way to do anything because every wetland is unique in its own way. There are certain things to do that are pretty basic, but the results you can get are much, much better than anything you could plant

Yes we planted quite a bit last year. We disced about 3-4" just like everthing else, we only broadcast and it is very, very drought tolerant. It looks like johnson grass (about 4') but puts on much more seed. We do a mixture of 10lbs SA and 10lbs browntop per acre (no fertilizer). This mixture was ...
