Re: Beretta 390

I've heard that Beretta is discontinuing the 391's in favor of the new 400's. I do know that Beretta introduced a new "entry level" gun at SHOT this year, the A300 Outlander. I'm guessing it is going to replace the 390 in that role. I'm speculating here a little bit so take it with a grain of salt ...

Re: shooting stray dogs? Law?

Don't shoot the dog. He's just being a dog after all.

I have felt just like the OP a time or two myself. In the end though, I couldn't bring myself to shoot the dog for being a dog over some deer.

And in a twist of fate, one of those times, the dogs actually ran off several deer only to drive ...

Re: Scope question

Well, I have both brands and to me the optics of the Zeiss are at least as good or better than the Leupold. That alone doesn't make it a better scope mind you. The Zeiss is longer and heavier than the Leup. and sometimes they look out of place on certain guns. The eye relief is pretty good on both ...

Re: Just got me a new toy - Rem 700 SPS 7mm08

In previous years I've hunted with the 30'06,7mmWSM and 257WBY. This year I'm going with a 7-08 and I have no doubt it will be more than enough on deer.
Anything and everything in North America has been killed with 7mm bullets so I don't think a whitetail will be much of a problem.

Re: What's the best scope for $500 and below??

The bulk of what you pay for a scope often comes in low light resolution. Tactical scopes cost more for toughtness and repeatable turrets ie. Nightforce. It is hard to tell a $1500 dollar differnce between a Swaro and Nitrex until you spend alot of time behind one in poor lighting conditions. A ...

Leupold VXII/VXIII/VX3 or Zeiss Conquest as already mentioned. One that hasn't been mentioned that deserves a look is the Sightron SII.

Three locking lugs: Two in front and one on the rear end of the bolt. Early 60's model.

Sakos are good guns, especially the older vintages like the one in question.

What advice are you seeking?

It's chambered in .243...I believe I paid $475 for it about 3 years ago, don't know what they are going for now.

DD, I was just trying to say that I agree with the advice in your post. Then I added my $.02 by mentioning the two cartridges I would go with. Didn't mean for it to read like I was ...

Re: which load?

I just bought a Savage 308 and was just wondering what loads yall are shooting and having good results with. I will pretty much be shooting under 200yds most of the time and mainly deer hunting.

By "loads", do you mean hand loads or do you mean factory ammunition?

If you mean factory ammo, I ...
