Little off subject but one cannot believ in predestination and personal choice. Just sayin. I picked God, had I not asked for salvation I would not have it.
That's not necessarily true. We've been over this topic pretty extensively in another thread. Check this out if you're interested... http ...

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
Shakespeare is difficult to read, but because it was written that way that is acceptable? Are you saying that Greek is easy to read? Why aren't we all reading it? The truth is, neither Greek, nor Hebrew, nor any new language is easy because of it's unique verbal structure, grammatic form and syntax ...

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
If Jesus is the most important word in God's word, if the God of the universe gave us one word it would be Jesus, if there is nothing more important in the English language than that single word, as you claim to believe, then how could its addition or subtraction be a "simple" matter? It cannot be ...

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
Unless the bible scholarship you have previously shown is a farce, you know very well that Deep Woods is speaking of application and not of specific context. You should not set up straw men.

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
You are incorrect - Lot's daughters got him drunk and slept with him, he was unaware of it. Though still his own fault, it was not Noah. Noah only had sons. Lot did not write any of the bible, neither did Noah. Neither did any of the Jews that killed Christ, and Moses repented - God attended Moses ...

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
Are there such things as "minor theological implications" in the Word? Doesn't God show concern for the "jot and tittle"?

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
To be honest, beyond learning what "Apocryphal" meant, I never looked any further. I was, however, wanting to know if a person can use any version of the bible and call it God's Word - since many of the newer versions do not say the same things and put into question thousands of verses in the bible ...

Re: Are complete opposites exactly the same?
Does that mean that being right is based on your faith? Don't even athiests have faith that they are right?
One version says that we are not supposed to change God's word and another demonstrates that it is ok to leave out parts or change them. That seems to say two different things.

Are complete opposites exactly the same?
Can both man and God be 100% right?
Can two bible versions differing in the amount of verses, or differing in that one version says this verse is from God and the other version questions if it should even be there or leaves that verse out - can both of those versions be 100% right?
Could a person ...

Re: A question about faith...
I think you are right, landscaper, and that is an excellent post. The question that I think many are trying to answer is if drinking is prohibited by the Baptist church. And as you have pointed out, we should strive to make perfect the work that is started in us, and remove the presence of sin as ...

Re: A question about faith...
I would hope that your preacher friend would walk you through the bible in order to show you what God has said about wine.

Re: Question
Along the same lines of your pastor, I would say that the minute, intricate (and yes, sometimes excruciating) details of historic events are important to God and that teaches us that even the most minute details of our walk before men is important to God.

Re: A new look a Genesis
Once again, I am late to the conversation. I appologize.
This question seems simple since Jesus spoke of many of these people and places in Genesis. He spoke of creation, he spoke of Adam and Eve as two distinct people, he spoke of Abel, he spoke of Noah and the flood, he spoke of the destruction ...

Re: ? Question bout End o Time & Rev.
The 7 years you speak of may be a reflection of Daniel's 70th week. Generally, Daniel's 70 weeks are thought to be characterized by each day representing a year. In the last "week" (or seven years) the Antichrist will make a covenant with Israel, yet he will destroy the temple in the midst of that 7 ...

Re: The "Threat of Grace"
Deep Woods,
You assert that Paul wrote to a "church of God" full of unsaved people eventhough the first seven verses of the first chapter prove that he fully believed that these people were saved.
1 Corinthians 1:1-9 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and ...
