Bigdawg that is a misconception. Oats are not as winter hardy as wheat, but they will not be completely killed out by frost. We've planted oats on our place exclusively for years. The deer there will walk through wheat to get to oats. The problem that most folks have with oats is that they plant ...

Don't get too hasty blaming Clearfield rice for NOT being tolerant to Newpath heribicide. It specifically states on the Newpath label that under STRESSFULL conditions that can be caused by but not limited to insect damage, herbicide damage (ie glyphosate, Command, etc...), disease pressure, weather ...

Wacker, I just bought Primos' new Gobbler Vest in MossyOak Obsession pattern. I really like the looks of it. It looks like the base is the Breakup pattern but with plenty of new green stuff mixed in. Should be just about ideal for spring turkey hunting and early season fall bowhunting. Couldn't find ...

Hey guys. Back again after a long lay off of the boards. I bought two dozed "Hot Buys" back in August. Avery recalled them, explained to me how to prepare them for shipping back to Memphis, the works. I received the replacements about 5 days later and hunted them pretty hard this season. I cleaned ...

Steelshot, I got drawn for a hunt there as well. From what I know, the place used to be an old catfish farm. Primary means of transportation will be your feet. Don't know anything about pit blinds but I seriously doubt it. Boats are probably out of the question as well. Waders probably wouldn't be a ...

They way I understand it is that if the rice has been harvested then any manipulation to the stubble "UNDER NORMAL AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES" should be legal. It is a normal ag practice to roll down rice straw after it is harvested.

It's really hard to say, even in general. Most of what you're probably seeing is like you said "ratoon sprouts". The stalk of the plant is probably not dead and remember like any grass, rice's growing point is near the soil. As long as the plant is not dead and the growing point is not damaged, the ...
