Re: Story

Great read! Earlier this year my grandfather gave me a shotgun that he got just after WWII. His mom ordered it for him just as soon as Sears started taking orders after the war. Haven’t shot it. Not sure if I will, but I might have to give it a try. He sawed 2” off the barrel because he said it was ...

Re: AR Opener

Sucked for us but I know of a couple groups that whooped on them Saturday and Sunday. Really dropped off after that. Little water in the woods, few ducks, and they really wanted in a handful of places and if you weren't there you might as well have been calling at wood ducks. Learned a lot. Not a to...

Re: Keep Your Hands Warm This Winter

I have some Cabela's too. About as good as you can get for duck hunting gloves. They're mostly waterproof but do absorb some water. I have a pair of Columbia gloves from a couple years ago that are totally waterproof but they're big & bulky so I really only use them for boat rides or extremely c...

Re: Dog food scams

I've been feeding the Tractor Supply brand (4 Health) the last few years and it's been good. If my dog gets food with corn in it he'll lick his feet till they nearly mold. The 4 Health doesn't have grains in it like Purina. I fed Nutro for a while but after back-to-back recalls I gave up on that.

Re: Don't manipulate your grain

Talked to a few men from down that area.... Seems the boys reputation precedes him, and not favorably. Sounds like he's lucky that's all he got ......considering. There has to be more history to this story than just this one hunt... You don't get that heavy of a penalty unless there is a back histo...

Re: Don't manipulate your grain

I think when the punishment for DUI's, burglaries, drug charges, etc. is less harsh then running over some corn stalks...maybe, just maybe, we've gotten our priorities a little bit out of whack.

THIS! Awesome read!

Re: Cogon grass

Wow. 150 acres is a big patch. I've sprayed 50-60 spots of it each year for the past several years and the herbicide concoction mentioned above is what I've used or had our contractors use. I've found spraying late summer/early fall works best, but again that's with imazapyr in the mix. With just gl...

Re:

Has anybody ever flooded a cut corn field for the opener and still had feed for ducks by the close of duck season? Wondering if I should flood half the field at the beginning and then flood the other half mid way. If you can flood it in stages I'd do that. Birds always seem to love new water, espec...

Re: Go Pro

Got a Hero 4 Black for Christmas. Never used any of the others. Picture quality is amazing but as had been said, get extra batteries. Battery life is terrible when using the app to control the camera. I've heard it's better with the remote but they don't come with the 4's. There are tons of accessor...

Re: breathable waders

Got a pair of Hodgman's 2 years ago. Leakiest pair of waders I've ever owned, but definitely the most comfortable. Only use them during teal season now cause I know I'm gonna get wet, but they work for keeping the mud off you. I think I'm going to try the Cabelas next time. Rarely read a bad review ...

Re: Will Roundup Kill Young Pines?

You can use Garlon (triclopyr) if all you're trying to do is kill the stuff that's sticking out but not the whole tree. We used some earlier this summer to chemically trim back some ROW. Worked pretty well. Smoked a bunch of sweetgum which is always a victory in my book. This should take you to a fa...
