We took it elk hunting and loved it.
we bought nice cabelas oversize cots with thickpads, set a yeti cooler in the floor and put the Mr. buddy on it with in reach of the cot and it literally would heat it up in 5 min.
we slept with it off ...

Re: Finishing rough cut cypress
just wax it. use johnson paste wax, or for a harder finish you can use carnauba wax
you can rub it on and buff it off, or you can heat some in a crock pot brush it on and then buff it after it dries.
it is a high quality finish and will last forever, and it will keep the natural look of the wood.

Re: Ask DS
I've had Leupolds, still got them. 10x42 gold rings. they are decent.
however - i bought a pair of swarovski 10x42 EL's and there is absolulty no comparison.
If i were getting a new pair, it would be Vortex, Meopta, Zeiss, or if you have some $$$ to spend get the Swaro's

college savings
Was planning on buying a jeep this summer to ride around with the top down and check trail cameras, hit dirt roads and later afternoon fishing holes.
instead i figure its time to be responsible and take that money and start planning.
Looking at MACS and IMPACT programs - my mom did this for me ...

Re: Super light pirogue - 17lb 14 foot
Skin glued and stapled on.
i did some more testing on the FRP and PVC.
i found that cleaning both very good with PVC cleaner or acetone, then using plenty of PVC glue worked really really good. the two cannot be sperated after cured.
the trick was to put the two textured sides together with ...

once the bottom is fitted. the two side pieces will be joined together with a piece of PVC board attached to the end. then taped and glassed.

Taped the ends together and stretched her out.
Plan on a 30" bottom. And maybe around 36" at the top. That is what it is in the pic.
