Kansas help

I'm taking my 9 year old daughter on one last turkey trip this spring. It's a spur of the moment trip and I haven't been able to plan anything. We're wanting to hit Kansas and Nebraska. Leaving from MS hoping to stop in Kansas for a couple days to break the drive up. Can anyone give me any advice on...

Re: Iowa hunts

Sorry Woodzie I haven't visited on here in a while. As Scotty said I offer Iowa deer and turkey hunts. For the last several years I've only offered hunts to buddies to help pay my leases but this year I've decided to start outfitting to a low number of hunters. I just started a facebook page and in ...

243 or 7-08 for youth?

Looking at getting my daughter something to deer hunt with. She's only 7 and a small girl. I like the 08 better for its knock down and possibly better blood trail if the shot it marginal. I've heard severa say the 243 normally doesn't produce much of a blood trail. My fear is with her being small fr...

Re: Suggestions for youth turkey gun

I agree if he can handle a 20 I'd go with that cause he could shoot it more years. If he can't I bought my daughter a Mossberg model 510 in the 410 when she was 4. I let her practice with light loads then put a 3" number 6 in for the hunt. I topped it with a red dot. Keep in mind she's a little...

Re: Salt lick/mineral sites?

You can make your own cheap. I go to my co-op and buy a bag of just plain salt, a bag of trace mineral, and a bag of dried molasses. Mix them all together in a tub. Bout 3 gallons is usually a good start then maybe freshen it up 2-3 months later depending on how much rain you get to melt it in.

Re: SD/WY Merriams in the snow

Well I brought it down to the wire and killed on my last morning. As always we had a blast. Didn't get to swap over to Wyoming for a hunt so maybe another time for that. If the weather stays good you guys getting ready to head out should hit it good.
