Desoto Lake Water Conditions

Has anyone hunted Desoto lake recently? Are water conditions good or as it dropped lately?

I'm coming down for the last weekend to enjoy some MS hospitality and hopefully to shoot a duck or two. I'd appreciate any info.

I hunted here in North-Central KY on Sunday and saw alot of ducks moving ...

Whatever you do, don't buy any Stearns "Mad Dog Gear" waders. I'm sending back my second pair. The first pair tore the first time I wore them. Traded them in for a more "durable" model. They're junk too!! I'm going back to Hodgman.

Double R is right, the feds have a difficult time estimating wood duck populations because of the type of habitat they use and also because they are so wide spread. We have a Sept. season for them here in Kentucky. This was a 13 yr. experimental season, it was evaluated 2 years ago and they were ...

I hunt resident canada geese alot here in North Central Kentucky. The resident birds tend to hang in smaller family groups. Accordingly I don't use more than 3 dozen dekes and I arrange them in loose groups of 3 to 8 dekes. I use outlaw sillhoutes mixed with shells or floaters. My success rate went ...

A friend of mine capsized on the Cumberland River in bitter cold conditions. He said that his neoprene waders in conjunction with his parka saved him from getting wet and made him more bouyant.

Any ducks at Sardis or DeSoto lake?

I'm planning on coming down sometime in January. Has anyone seen an increase in the number of ducks on Sardis or in the north delta since the Christmas snow storm? I'm from Kentucky and most of our birds are gone. We had quite a few ducks in early Nov. (before season) but they left with the first ...

Retriever Question

I have a 3 year old yellow lab. I've had him for one year and I am his third owner. I'm told that he was given up by the first two owners because of lack of time to train him. I found out on his first dove hunt that he was hardmouth. He wasn't eating birds just being a little rough and pulling out ...

I handpainted some old standard G&H hen mallards to look like Gadwalls.
I painted a large exaggerated white wing patch on them. It really shows up from a distance. So far all gadwalls and woodies that have come in sucked up to these dekes
