Re: Need some knowledge on st. augustine grass

No grass likes shade, but St. Augustine will tolerate it better than the others. You can use several herbicides for broadleaf weeds in St. Aug. Any 2 or 3-way herbicide with 2,4-D, dicamba, and MCPP will get most of the broadleaves but weaker on some of the perennial creeping ones like ground ivy, d...

Anyone ever kept their dog in the garage?

Here's my situation: Moving to Collierville, TN in a week and have a place with no backyard but I have a 2 car garage. I have a female black lab who is 9 years old and always either stayed outside in a big kennel or inside the house. As she's getting on up there in age, I am worried about leaving he...

Re: Let's talk grass. Sprigging Bermuda, killing Bahia

I'm sure you've figured it out already, but the reason for the small bottle is because sulfonylurea herbicides like metsulfuron are applied at very low use rates and a 2 oz bottle can cover up to 8 acres based on the lowest rate for bahiagrass control. Don't forget the nonionic surfactant too!

Anybody live in or around Memphis?

Been in the Germantown and Cordova areas all week looking for a house to rent. Will be moving here shortly to start a new job. Any recommendations for places to live with a reasonable drive to the Agricenter? I've been trying to find a smaller house with garage to park my trailer and four-wheeler an...

Re: what is this in my Bermuda

hard to tell on my phone....maybe dallas grass, but hit it with MSMA. there was talk of removing from the market, but seems like it was extended. I have enough to last a lifetime if you need a few ounces. Use of MSMA has only been continued for golf courses, sod farms, and highway rights-of-way wit...

Re: what is this in my Bermuda

MSMA I saw MSM at the co op but wasn't sure if it's the same thing as MSMA honestly. I thought MSMA was off the market now. Did it say MSM 60DF Turf herbicide or something similar? If so, that is metsulfuron. You can spray that on bermuda to take out just about any broadleaf weed there is. It's als...

Re: New lawn turf grass???? Help!!

It is too hot and humid for Kentucky bluegrass in MS. In fact, you're really stretching it if you plant even a turf-type tall fescue, unless you plan on really babying it. Common bermudagrass would probably be your best bet from a time and money standpoint.

Re: 2-4D alternatives ?

Dicamba (Banvel, Clarity, etc.) is probably your next best option (if it is allowed in that area) for selective broadleaf weed control. Triclopyr (Grandstand, triclopyr amine, etc.) is another auxin-mimic herbicide of a different family that is really good on broadleaves, but has activity on SOME gr...

Re: They caught him...I knew it!

My bet is on coon too. My granddaddy hunted and trapped them for years. As a kid, I would go out to his house and mess with them after he caught them in a trap. Those suckers will growl, hiss, snarl, bark...whatever. Okay, maybe not bark, but he definitely acted and and looked like a coon with no ha...

Re: Yard grading

Years ago when I worked on municipal level baseball fields and we had some puddling going on in the outfield we would make "vertical drains". They were quick and easy to do and did the job pretty well. To make them just dig about a 3-4' deep hole with an auger, (or post-hole digger if that...

Re: What model Sig Sauer for CC?

Thanks for the tips guys! Well, have you decided? If you were to tell me "go buy a 357sig to carry concealed" I'd get the 239. Like Chevy said, add the 40 cal barrel for plinking as the same mags will work for both. Not 100% yet. But I have to tell you, I really like the feel, look, and p...
