Lots of dekes definitely helps, but if you use 15 dozen and the ducks land on the outside of your decoys (which seems to always be my luck) then you're not going to be close enough to get a shot. I witnessed a similar thing happen once when my dad started a tractor that way. Fortunately, it wasn't a dual wheel tractor and he was able to jump out of the way. His almost new truck was not.
