A few weeks ago, I was brainstorming on new ideas to write about at Ducksouth. There are only so many strategies you can write about hunting ducks in flooded timber, calling techniques, etc. I truly believe God has had me on a mission writing different articles for Ducksouth, but I was running out of ideas. My prayer each day is for God to give the right words to say and write. I felt empty. The phone rang late that afternoon. It was a guy by the name of Josh. He explained to me who he was, and it turned out I knew his in-laws, and we had a lot of shared friends. He said he liked what we had been doing at Ducksouth and wanted to know if I was looking for a writer. I told him sure if our visions matched up. He explained what he wanted to do, and I liked everything he said. He agreed to join the team, and I think you are going to see this guy do great things in the hunting industry in the future. It is my honor and pleasure to introduce you to our newest writer at Ducksouth, Mr. Josh Webb.

Josh was born and raised in the north Mississippi town of Corinth. At the age of 4, his granddad introduced him to the outdoors, and he knew that he wanted to spend as much time as he possibly could in wild places. He was fortunate to spend a large majority of his childhood hunting and fishing in both Mississippi and Tennessee.

At a young age, he gained a very strong love for introducing new people to the outdoors, especially kids. This passion was mostly due to his dad passing away when he was twelve. Once he became old enough to drive, he took his little brother and sister every chance he got. He wanted them to have the same opportunities to experience the outdoors that he had gotten.

After graduating high school in 2007, he attended Delta State to play golf and that same fall he met his wife, Katie. “I never imagined there was a girl out there that loved the outdoors as much as me, but I immediately noticed that same passion in Katie. Since meeting her nearly nine years ago we have been incredibly blessed to have hunted together countless times and create a bond that is amazing”, said Webb.

Together they have had the opportunity to do many things in the outdoor world from hunt on television to even running the Mississippi chapter of Antlers for Orphans. Antlers for Orphans is a non-profit based out of Colorado that uses antlers collected by individuals across the nation to raise money for the education of orphans in Uganda. A little over two years ago they moved back to Katie’s hometown of Cruger just outside Greenwood, Mississippi.

“Living here we get to spend a lot of our time with family in the outdoors and have been blessed to be able to grow our family as well. Last September Katie and I welcomed our first child, Waylon, to the world”, said Webb.

Josh said, “The arrival of Waylon has given me new purpose as I now look forward to seeing him experience everything that the outdoors has to offer as he grows up.”
Josh is very excited about joining the team at Ducksouth. “I share the same vision for the future of Ducksouth as Rocky. I think we share the same passion for the outdoors and we both find joy in seeing others succeed and writing about their success”, said Webb.
