Contrary to what the younger generations of today might think, there was a time when communication and information on the internet was hard to find unless you were very specific in your search. It was during this time that the current site you are enjoying at the moment was born and bonds were immediately made among members of the waterfowl forum known then as MSducks. The friendships that were made “way back when” have grown with the site over time and as the community grew many members felt like they needed a way to meet up, hang out, cook a ton of food and maybe even pull the trigger a few times. This idea spawned the creation of the Ducksouth Teal Hunt and Social at Willow Break Hunting Club.

Well, if you believe that then you can follow this simple procedure. Drop your preconceived notions at the gate when you turn off Highway 3 and instead come on in the door with your favorite recipe for grilled meat. It also wouldn’t hurt to have a good handle on what is happening with northern pond counts and early migration patterns.
Don’t get me wrong; the Ducksouth Teal Social is full of business owners, doctors, world travelers and an ongoing list of other interesting people and occupations, but the fact of the matter is that everyone is a hunter first. And the bond created among hunters goes far beyond fancy cars and corner offices. Bonds such as these never have to be questioned because the love of the outdoors, a good dog by your side, and decent home cooking is what has kept the teal social alive to see its 13th annual event this year. It is also responsible in large part for keeping the Ducksouth site and community going all this time, and I for one will be forever grateful for that.

After all, if the site didn’t exist I wouldn’t have the outlet to write for a crowd that shares my passion for the outdoors nor would I get to talk to tons of people every week about hunting. So for two reasons I am using this time to say thanks for all the good people who have kept a good thing going and for all the new people who have joined the Ducksouth community not just here in the South, but nationwide. The best is truly yet to come, and with that being said I honestly can’t wait to see how many more people become a part of the community we take pride in here at Ducksouth.com.
