THE BITE IS ON!!!!

It has been an incredible stretch of days in the south and southeast for fishing of all kinds. The crappie have made the switch in the famous waters of Mississippi, the bass are tearing it up on Guntersville and Pickwick and the coolers are filling up with table fair along the MS, LA and TX coast!

Bart and the guys at SWC Sportsman’s lodge have had great success with the trout and redfish. Last week the trout were not doing much but this week has been a whole new ball game. The offshore action has been very good to out of the SWC lodge however this weekend the weather may keep them off the water for a few days. If you are looking for an all-around trip that offers everything you could want, call Bart at 601-466-0152!

SWC is not the only one seeing success along the coast either. The Texas crew at Run-N-Gun adventures simply blow the minds of clients day in and day out! They are on fire down there, it’s as simple as that. The speckled trout action has been incredible and just when you think it can’t get any better, they load up another rod with shrimp and a popping cork and hammer away at them! The new lodge is well on its way and is expected to open by mid-summer. If you want Texas sized adventure with a family friendly atmosphere call our good buddy Daniel Kubecka at 979-240-5312!
Justin Fayard at Mexican Gulf Charters says that the yellowfin tuna have been simply awesome! The weather created great conditions and allowed them to fish without worry for several days. Justin spends most of his week chasing tuna however if you want something a little different but a whole lot of fun, call Justin and let him put you on some serious swordfish action on the weekends! You can reach him at 228-342-5807!

Blake Hall, the man with bass on the brain, has been having a lot of success on Guntersville and Pickwick. Blake reports that the smallmouth bite remains good on Pickwick.

Swimbaits, jerkbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits in 6-12ft

Blake also said that the largemouth bite is good on Guntersville in the right areas.

Still primarily in a strong pre spawn pattern and focusing on the main river grass areas still are best. 4-8 ft of water has been the key and the go rigs have been lipless crankbait, swimbait, and crankbaits.  Blake also mentioned that with this weather fishermen should look for a major wave to move shallow in the next week! If you want to get in on some great smallmouth and largemouth action contact Blake at 256-566-3380!

The Mississippi big 5 crappie lakes are reaching the point of spawn at a rapid rate!

spingpic2The cool weather that blew in last week put a damper on the fish but it was short lived. Over the weekend and early this week fishermen saw great success on Grenada, and more of it is coming from jigging shallow water in boats and wading than it has been in recent weeks. There are still high numbers of fish being caught on roadrunners in the areas leading up to spawn sites but with the given forecast the crappie in Grenada will begin to spawn heavy any day now!

Ross Barnett has also become a favorite among crappie fisherman and with the exception of the recent cold snap it is no surprise why. Last week the fish were reported to be moving more to shallow areas with cattails and pads and this week is pretty much the same. The water did become a little stained due to rain however it is clearing as we speak and the weather for the next week is simply awesome. Now is the time to prepare your gear because the crappie could take off at any moment on the Rez!

Our new friends and contact at the Half Hitch in Destin are reporting that it was a phenomenal weekend for catching King Mackeral as well as many other exotic species. Several charters in the area brought in some amazing quality fish and it continues to get better! If you would like any more info contact Half Hitch Destin at 850-837-3121 and tell them we sent you! Good luck out there!

I love to fish and receiving these reports each week make me incredibly anxious to get out there! With the exception of possible rain Saturday, I plan to get out and find some shallow water crappie in some of the lakes around my great state. I hope that you will do the same and continue to follow as we bring you these reports each week!
