Sitting beside Highway 104 in Roellen, Tn is one of the most famous duck dives in Northwest Tn. I knew I was going up to meet with J Paul last week and I told him I wanted to go to his favorite breakfast spot during duck season. He took me down the road just a few miles from his house to a little store called the Hilltop Market. J Paul told me during duck season this place will be packed from three in the morning with duck hunters going hunting till late in the morning from hunters coming back from the duck hole.
Why are there so many duck hunters in here? It is probably because it is next to one of the hottest public hunting spots in Tn. It is just right down the road Tigrett WMA. Tigrett contains some of the most beautiful timber hunting that every hardcore waterfowler dreams about. I will spare the promotion of public hunting spots because some will get mad, so let’s get back to the Hilltop Market.
This place opens at 3:30 in the morning to cater to duck hunters. So, that automatically gets it a thumbs up from the Ducksouth team. The food is great and the service from the store personnel is awesome. What do you eat if you go there? If you are there in the morning, I would go with the regular sausage and biscuit. If you are there at lunch, you can’t go wrong with the BBQ ham sandwich. If you are up there during duck season and you go in the Hiltop Market, J Paul said just charge it to him with your Ducksouth username.
