Life is a precious gift in which we have one opportunity to make as many lasting impressions on those around us as possible. Some people use the time to speak their feelings and some write journals of their adventures. There are even some who video every second of their life for the world to see. Yet in the midst of it all, a duck hunter has a special bond with those who came before them through tangible items such as a grandfather’s old A5 or an old leather duck strap with the initials barely visible. The latter of the two is the type of gear that provoked BC Rogers to create the company Wren and Ivy.

B.C. and Kim Rogers on a successful hunt

Rogers fell in love with the nostalgic side of hunting many years ago and it became the genesis of his new company. He wanted to create gear that was tough and dependable. He also wanted to be able to hand it down to later generations, but still have a modern theme to it. “I like to use classic sporting gear and I couldn’t find a brand that had classic styling but still had modern functionality.”
From that point Rogers knew he wanted to create products that hunters of today would be proud to hold and more importantly, a product that would bring pride to anyone who is lucky enough to have it passed down to them. Rogers speaks passionately about the intricate details that go into making each Wren and Ivy product special in its own way. “Each piece is made one at a time by hand. It is solid brass hardware and waxed twill canvas.” The sentimental connection with each Wren and Ivy product is forged throughout the years of use and those who receive the hand-me-down can look back at those worn out leather marks from where their elders carried their gun or held a limit full of ducks.

As a hunter myself, I can proudly say that products such as the ones made by Wren and Ivy are the exact the kind that I want to hand to my kids in the blind one day.
