A Shooting Tip When Hunting From A Layout Blind

Here’s a tip to make you a better shot when you’re hunting in a layout blind, a layout boat, or even if you’re just lying prone in your decoy spread. This tip is for anytime you’re on your back and you have to raise up to shoot.

Most hunters will arrange their blinds so they’re pointing straight down wind.  Hunter will point them straight towards where the bird should be coming from. This is great when you’re shooting, if you’re shooting straight on, or if you’re swinging to the left. I’m assuming I’m talking to people that shoot off their right shoulders.

If those birds break to the right, then you’re very restricted when you’re lying down and you’re trying to swing back to the right. It’s a tough shot! Here is how to remedy that. I want you to just turn your blind when you set up about 45° off from center, off from straight down wind.

If the bird breaks right, you can swing on them. If they break left,  you’ll still have a good shot. You can follow the birds and  you can stay on them. Your movements are fluid and you’ll be much, much better in the shooting department if you turn that blind off just few degrees.
